True to You, the first novel in The Bradford Sisters series, features the story of middle sister, Nora, and her unanticipated journey to love. Nora's ho-hum-not-so-exciting life is interrupted after volunteering as a "hostage" for a crisis training company with her sister, Britt, only to find that she is immensely attracted to her "rescuer", John Lawson. Doubting she will ever see him again after the training session, Nora is stunned when John seeks out her help as a genealogist to assist him in locating his birth mother and more information about his adoption after he learns he has a hereditary disease. While their interactions at the beginning are strictly professional, Nora secretly swoons over John, and much to his surprise, John finds his interest in Nora is quickly developing into something much more personal. There is just one problem- John is already in a committed dating relationship with someone else. As the two spend more time together searching for clues to John's family tree, their attraction grows prompting John to break off his current relationship so he can pursue Nora fully. As their hearts intertwine and hope of their new love swells, their romance faces a challenge that may prove insurmountable when information about John's parentage reveals a horrifying secret affecting not only John's past, but Nora's as well.
I loved everything about this story and just could not put it down! Nora's quirkiness and insecurities were endearing as were her interactions with her sisters which revealed their closeness. Although she almost immediately fell head-over-heels for John, I appreciated that she kept this to herself out of respect for his current relationship. Wade masterfully unfurled the emotional turmoil John experienced after realizing he was attracted to Nora leaving him troubled and confused about his dating relationship with Allie. And, again, I was pleased with the way John and Allie's break-up occurred- tastefully and gently. The development of John and Nora's romance was tender and sweet, highlighting the excitement and hope found in a new relationship. Stunned by the revelation of John's parentage, I held my breath as I read the aftermath of the shocking news, hoping that Nora and John's new love would be strong enough to make it through the darkness. True to You is packed with the excitement and sizzle of romance, humor, faith, and a portrayal of true commitment that holds strong against even the toughest circumstances. You won't be disappointed!
